There are several new marked routes in the pipeline which we will announce once they are fully marked and ready.
We have added a number of new routes for you to try whilst or usual routes are closed. These routes all follow open trails but only The Quarter Pounder and The Low Tech 24km are waymarked. On each route page, you can download a GPX file to use with your GPS bike computer or a phone-based GPX viewer. Alternatively, you can find the route on Strava to follow; or download the mySOS SA app to your phone and you can follow all our routes from within the app.
The main thing to note is that red area is the HOT SPOT – there is absolutely no access into these areas – and Karkloof Trails are going to be replacing old signage in the coming weeks. If you come across any sign that states trail closed, or has candy tape across the trail, it is not accessible, whether or not you can see harvesting taking place. Karkloof Trails have been hard at work clearing the trails on the Western side to open up more options, but it is imperative that runners and riders please comply when a trail is closed.
The following trails remain closed until further notice.
- Jewitts from the top to Khyber Pass crossing- open from Khyber down to bottom
- Dragons Back
- Pressure cooker
- iSikova top section. It is open further down, accessible from the falls dirt road.
- Gravel road down to falls is closed due to harvesting, from the Karkloof tar road to the new entry to iSikova.
